A Message from the Principal

I would like to congratulate the Boys’ Varsity Volleyball team for a fabulous season! The team, under the guidance of coaches Sabrina Gauss and Robert Sanchez, made it to playoffs last Saturday. Though they did not win the match, they played well and we are proud of them! The team has been using the gym in the Central property for games and practices.

The Central property is not only being used for volleyball; the 8th grade graduation dinner dance will be held there the evening of June 6. We are excited to be able to use the property and are planning on using it for student retreats.

Rita Guild, parish coordinator, spoke at our PTO meeting last week about the Pentecost Novena which begins on May 22. In your envelope this week, you will find the Novena in honor of the Holy Spirit. As you pray this novena, please pray and reflect upon our parish and the new property. If you have any thoughts about possibilities for this property, we invite you to share them with us. You can leave your comments in the collection basket, the mailbox in the vestibule, or drop them off to the Parish Office. You can also send any comments through the home messenger and we would be happy to deliver them for you. Thank you for sharing!

I hope to see you all this Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. for our Spring Show – “Showtunes and Musicals:
A Blast From the Past to the Current Smash!”

A blessed week to you!

Ms. Olivia Carrillo

Scrip Tip

What do you think of $30,726.73? As of last week, that was what we earned from purchased Scrip and/or signing up your Ralphs/Vons cards and/or your credit cards on eScrip. All of this money is from the scrip merchants and not from your pockets. We are up 73% in sales from last year, and 85% in rebates from Ralphs/escrip. Way to go!!! Now that's what I call a stimulus package.

Good news, you can keep this up through the summer. Scrip sales will continue to happen from 8:30-11:45 a.m. on Sundays in front of church. If everyone does their part, we can easily double this number by this time next year.

New PTO Board Members Elected

Congratulations to the newly elected members of the 2009-2010 PTO Board:

Jim Cahill
Veronica Ferrer
Mark Richardson
William Terrazas
Felix Urena

We sincerely thank the outgoing members of the PTO for their hard work and dedication to Incarnation School:

Joe Chavez, President
Robert Mahan, Fundraising
Jimmy Mueckay, Athletic Director
Maribeth Spensiero, Hospitality
Jim Theiring, Treasurer/Finance

Marketing Survey

Enclosed in this week’s envelope is a brief marketing survey. Beginning in the fall, Incarnation School will have a Consultative School Board (CSB) in place. The CSB is an advisory board to the pastor and principal; the board will focus on long-term strategic planning, marketing and development, resource management, and policy planning. The marketing committee is under the CSB and has begun working on the marketing plan for the school. The purpose of this survey is to help the school’s marketing committee gather information about the school’s image. The survey data will also be used as a part of the WASC process.

We appreciate your input by Tuesday, May 26.

Heavenly Father,
You give us so many gifts!
May we be open to this gift of peace
That Christ offers to us.
May we let it grow in our hearts and share it with the world.
Grant this through the same Prince of Peace.
Amen.

A Message from the Principal

Keeping your children safe is our top priority, and we can only ensure their safety when there is appropriate supervision. For this reason, students may not be dropped off on campus before 7:00 a.m. Mr. Lopez, our custodian, is generally on campus before 7:00. However, he has other duties to attend to and cannot provide supervision for the students. Therefore, gates to the campus remain locked until Ms. Castillo arrives for morning care at 7:00 a.m. For your child’s safety, please do not drop off your children on school or church grounds before 7:00 a.m.

During school hours, the black gate facing the church parking lot remains closed and locked. All visitors to campus must check in at the school office, no matter how brief the visit. Please do not ask anyone doing yard supervision to unlock the gates for you as they are not permitted to do so. Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe.

A blessed week to you!

Ms. Olivia Carrillo

A Message from the Principal

This week, schools across the nation are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week. When we express our gratitude for our teachers, we take the time to reflect on the positive ways they have impacted our students’ lives and our school community. I am sure we can all recall a special teacher that made a difference in our lives. We might not have even realized the influence they had until years later. For these teachers—the listeners, motivators, caregivers, and mentors—we are thankful! At Incarnation, we have a special week planned for our teachers and support staff to show them our gratitude for the work they do for our students and our school. We wish all of our staff a wonderful week!

The faculty has been working diligently on the self-study required for our accreditation next year. We are enclosing another survey to be completed by May 12. It is not necessary to include your name, your child’s name, or grade level. The information gathered will be used in the section about the school/community profile as requested by the WASC draft review team. Thank you for your cooperation!

Scrip Tip

This week is staff/teacher appreciation week. Don’t forget to show them your love. I have plenty of options that would put a big smile on their face. Mother’s Day is upon us this weekend. Don’t forget we have lots of options to choose from. If you feel like you’re close to reaching the $200 in profits, make sure to stop by the scrip table so that I can tell you how close you are. We close out the books at the end of this month and we’d love to refund you.
Finally, in preparations for next year’s AMAZING scrip sales, I’d like to request you send back your plastic envelopes at the end of May so that we can reuse them for the 2009-2010 school year.

Also, if your summer vacations take you out of the area, I would love a poster I can display in the library to inspire the imaginations of our wonderful children.

Finally, the library supplements our book budget with donations. Gently used books are gratefully accepted. Thank you to all who have volunteered to help in the library. You are making a difference.

Lord God,
Open our ears and our eyes
to the truth of Christ and
Help us to live in the Spirit.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

A Message from the Principal

Welcome back! I hope your Easter was filled with joy in celebration of the resurrection.

Spring, the time of renewal, brings an appreciation of our planet Earth. At the same time, we are reminded of our responsibility in caring for it. It is important that we, as parents and teachers, encourage and model those actions which preserve and protect the resources we must share. This is SLE #2 – stewardship of the gifts of creation! Recycling is an important activity in which every member of the family can participate.

Tomorrow is Earth Day. Talk with your children about ways we can show responsible stewardship, such as turning out lights to save electricity and making sure that faucets are turned off so that water is not wasted. Spring is also a good time to plant trees. They improve the quality of our air, but also provide beauty and shared for us and future generations. Our earth and its resources are a gift to us from God. We can show our gratitude as we cherish and care for this precious gift.

Wishing you a peaceful week,

Ms. Olivia Carrillo

We are about to enter into the Triduum, the holiest days of the year. They begin on the evening of Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper when we recall that Jesus gave his body and blood and taught us to care for others when he washed the disciples’ feet. They continue on Good Friday with the celebration of the Lord’s Passion as we remember Christ’s sacrifice for us. On the night of Holy Saturday, we celebrate the Resurrection with great joy.

As we approach the Triduum, I pray that you have a blessed Holy Week and joyous Easter. May your Easter week be filled with peace and happiness.

Tomorrow Incarnation School will sponsor the soup supper at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. We are in need of soups! Please contact Doug Bennett at jugndune@earthlink.net if you are able to bring in soup for this dinner.

The Grail Theater of Britain performed Jesus of Nazareth for all of our students this morning. During this 45-minute program, the students witnessed important moments throughout the life of Jesus—his baptism, the temptation in the desert, the healing of a blind man, the raising of Lazarus, Pilate’s decision, and the crucifixion (symbolically) to name a few. This was a great show and can be nice discussion starter at home as we prepare for Holy Week.

Have a blessed week!

Preschool News

Last Sunday after each Mass, parishioners were invited to attend the Open House at the Incarnation annex on Central. Visitors had the opportunity to see the completed rooms and the work-in-progress. Our preschool classrooms look fabulous thanks to our director, Mrs. Rosemarie Muscarella. Once we have our license, we will send out information regarding registration for our tentative grand opening in September. This Wednesday, we are having our first inspection to have the classrooms measured. This inspection will determine how many students we can accommodate in each classroom.

Thank you to all who have donated items for the preschool. We are still in need of gently used books that are appropriate for 3-5 year olds. If you have any books you would like to donate, please bring them to the school office.

Try to plan ahead for all your Easter needs and use Scrip. It benefits you and the school. For a limited time, we have Sees Candies for $15.00 (25% profit) a pound. In the store, a pound costs $15.60. You can use the $15.00 scrip for anything in the store and they will give you $15.60 in product. VERY SOON they are increasing our cost to $15.60 (23% profit). Be sure to take advantage of this savings.

Don't forget about your new Easter shoes or outfit. There are many options available. I think the Easter Bunny himself could find something from our list.
