Thanks to our volunteers for taking time from their busy schedules!

A Note from the Science Lab:
Ask any of my science students to finish this sentence, “In science, matter is always in ___________”, and they will answer “motion”. In the same way, our science lab is always in motion. If you had come by our science room in the past two months, you would have seen students investigating electric circuits, experimenting with chemical reactions, measuring matter with balance scales and graduated cylinders, observing magnetic fields in magnets using iron fillings, testing a parachute’s air resistance, taking a ride on a hovercraft, dissecting a sheep’s heart and a chicken’s wing, making a model of a brain, calculating the speed of toy cars with the use of ramps, observing kinetic and potential energy in hand-made rocket launchers, making glue with milk and vinegar, investigating the properties of wet corn starch and building various simple machines.  And to think we are only through our first trimester in school!
Students learn best when they are given an opportunity to explore and investigate scientific ideas for themselves. Incarnation recently made a large purchase of various scientific tools and gadgets. Our purchase included: more dissecting tools, wires, batteries, bulbs, chemicals, an accurate balance scale which measures mass to the tenth place, graduated cylinders of various volumes, large ramps, stop watches, simple machines, magnets, mineral samples and much more. And yet, we have more items to purchase. With these items, students are able to work in small groups no larger than two or three. This allows for better practice of scientific inquiry skills. It is my goal to ignite every student’s interest in the natural world and curiosity in how it works.
Next week I will be sending out a letter with information on our Science Fair. This year, our Science Fair will take place the week of February 11th.  In the letter, students will be given a time line of due dates for their assignments.
Thanks so much for your continued support,
Juana Salazar

God our Father,
We pray for all who have died,
especially our loved ones and people in our community.
May they move closer to you every day and come to live

A Message from the Principal
Thursday is the Solemnity of All Saints, or All Saints Day, and we celebrate the lives of all the saints who now live in Christ. The third grade class has been researching the lives of saints and will conclude the project with a special presentation for Mass. The students will be dressed as saints, and present facts about the lives of the saints to the congregation. We thank Mrs. Lomasto and the third grade class for their preparation and sharing at mass.

A Message from the Principal

As some of you have already heard, we had a terrible loss on Saturday.  Monsignor Pat Thompson collapsed at the rectory, the ambulance was called, and then he was taken to the hospital and died. Monsignor Zak was with him the entire time, and he was able to administer the anointing of the sick to him. Monsignor Pat had many health issues and it was just his time to go.  None of us really knew how sick he was.  Monsignor Zak said to the children yesterday, that he is in a happier place, and that he is no longer sick anymore just happy to be in heaven.  Our thoughts and prayers are for him and his family and when we get any information about the services we will let you know.

Sincerely,
Diana Girskis
