Family Messenger, April 21, 2009

Lord God,
Open our ears and our eyes
to the truth of Christ and
Help us to live in the Spirit.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

A Message from the Principal

Welcome back! I hope your Easter was filled with joy in celebration of the resurrection.

Spring, the time of renewal, brings an appreciation of our planet Earth. At the same time, we are reminded of our responsibility in caring for it. It is important that we, as parents and teachers, encourage and model those actions which preserve and protect the resources we must share. This is SLE #2 – stewardship of the gifts of creation! Recycling is an important activity in which every member of the family can participate.

Tomorrow is Earth Day. Talk with your children about ways we can show responsible stewardship, such as turning out lights to save electricity and making sure that faucets are turned off so that water is not wasted. Spring is also a good time to plant trees. They improve the quality of our air, but also provide beauty and shared for us and future generations. Our earth and its resources are a gift to us from God. We can show our gratitude as we cherish and care for this precious gift.

Wishing you a peaceful week,

Ms. Olivia Carrillo

Scrip Update

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Don’t forget to make your scrip purchases in time.
If you’ve sent in a scrip order with your child and it is not returned the next day, please contact me ASAP.
The more time that goes by, the more difficult it becomes to track where it is.

Shell is offering an additional 1% to their 1.5% for a limited time. If each family does a weekly $50 purchase of Shell gas from now until the end of the year, Shell will have contributed a $1,512 to our school.

Good news!!! Scrip sales will happen this summer after Sunday masses.

Family Messenger, April 7, 2009

Heavenly Father,
Let our actions in this world become
prayers of love for you. May we tend one
another with the care Mary expressed toward Jesus.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

A Message from the Principal

We are about to enter into the Triduum, the holiest days of the year. They begin on the evening of Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper when we recall that Jesus gave his body and blood and taught us to care for others when he washed the disciples’ feet. They continue on Good Friday with the celebration of the Lord’s Passion as we remember Christ’s sacrifice for us. On the night of Holy Saturday, we celebrate the Resurrection with great joy.

As we approach the Triduum, I pray that you have a blessed Holy Week and joyous Easter. May your Easter week be filled with peace and happiness.

Ms. Olivia Carrillo
