Family Messenger, November 29, 2011

God, our Father,
You sent your Son to show us your love.
Give our bodies the strength to seek you,
Our minds the light to see you,
And our hearts the joy of your presence
Amen.

A Message from the Principal

On Sunday, we began the season of Advent. Advent is a time of quiet, joyful preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. This is a time of anticipation and new beginnings. At school, we will light the Advent wreath at each of our Monday morning assemblies. At home, you can create a mood of anticipation with your family by displaying the empty manger from a Christmas nativity scene; you can also set an Advent wreath at home and light it each week as we approach Christmas.

Sunday was also the first day of the implementation of the new English translation of the Roman Missal in the U.S. This means that there is now one standard English text for the mass whether you are in the U.S. or any other English-speaking country. To help with the transition, Mr. Sanchez has provided older students with a laminated copy of the changes to the prayers and responses to keep with them and take to mass. Cards are also available in the pews for anyone needing a reference tool, but those are to remain in the pews so they are available to parishioners at all times.

May this season of Advent fill your family with joy!

Ms. Olivia Carrillo

Tomorrow is the Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed, or All Souls’ Day, when we remember and pray for all the faithful who have died.
