Loving God,
Help us to learn from Mary how to serve you well.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

A Message from the Principal

We all have a lot to be thankful for, and I would like to personally thank everyone who has donated money to help the Typhoon victims.  We know that it is hard to imagine how they are feeling during this time, but with your donations we know that we are helping them as much as we possibly can.  The next date for our collection will be December 18th.

This Thursday, December 12th,  we celebrate the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary with an all school Mass at 11 a.m. Mr. Huizar’s fourth grade class, will be leading the Mass. We invite you to join us in this celebration.

A survey from the PTO is included in this home messenger, we would like for you to respond and turn it in to the office, as soon as you can. We would like your feedback to better serve the student/parent body.

Parents please join us after the Christmas concert in the school courtyard for a special unveiling, which is bound to share a wonderful message for the Incarnation family!
God Bless,

Generous Lord God,
In your great love, you invite all people

to live with you forever in heaven.

A Message from the Principal
I hope that everyone had a wonderful time last week, with our Halloween festivities, the parents did an outstanding job organizing the event. All of the students from Preschool to 8th grade had a wonderful time. Thanks for making all of this possible for the children. The Faculty appreciated all of the time and efforts that were put in to organize this event.  Thanks again for making Halloween such a special day here at Inca!

I would also like to thank Mrs. Lomasto, Mr. Eckel, Mrs. Oller, Father Joseph and her third grade class for a beautiful mass on Friday, November 1st, they did a spectacular job!

Parents, we are doing something a little different in the process of signing up for parent teacher conferences this year.  Each teacher is putting their times and schedules on a website called: sign up genius. The sign up process will start this week.  Each parent will be available to sign up online and schedule their parent teacher conferences for November 25 and 26. Please look for the information from your homeroom teacher.  The process is very simple and if you have any questions, please ask your homeroom teacher.

We would like to thank everyone who purchased pumpkins from our sale; we earned a profit of $280.00. We will use this to buy seeds, gloves and other items needed for the garden.  Thanks so much for your contribution. The children will put your contributions to good use!

God bless,

Incarnation Sports Family

A heartfelt ‘Thank You’ from the Girls ‘A’ Volleyball team who were named 2013 West Foothill Champions.  Not only were they division champions, they did that with a perfect, undefeated season, 9 wins and 0 losses!!
This team, once again, was well represented into the second round of the CYO playoffs.  Thank you to all the parents, siblings, and players who supported the team all season long.  Thank you to Coach Sanchez who, for two years now, led his team back-to-back undefeated seasons!  A special thanks from Coach Sanchez to the 8th grade girls knowing that their tenacity and excellent work ethic will be a benefit when trying out for high school volleyball.  Congratulations!!

The Girls "B" Volleyball Team had an incredible season! They practiced hard and finished 7-0 for the season. On top of our league games, part of the team participated in an outside tournament, competing against 20 different teams from around Los Angeles. The girls represented incarnation well and took first place in the tournament! They not only earned the school a trophy, but individual medals as well. We are so proud of these girls! Great job this year!  Thanks to Mrs. Mott and Mrs. Sonner for their hard work and dedication to the girl

Incarnation Eagles “A” Flag Football

We are extremely proud of the Incarnation Eagles “A” Flag Football team which finished a wonderful 2013 season with a record of 6-2, 7-3 after play-offs. After a slow start the team grew together, gained strength, confidence and skill as they developed into a unified team. “The support the players offered each other and solid improvements shown on the team were very rewarding to see”, said Coach David Raba. Greg Dumansky also assisted in coaching a number of games. The team included 8th graders; Philip Roque, Jonathan Reyes, Michael Dumansky, Grady Flaherty, Ryan Raba, Sean Hovland, Michael Leon, Angelo Hernandez, Christian Villegas, Patrick Casella, 7th graders; Andy Hovland, Gavin Lundin, Matthew Acosta and Leo Sarkissian.

The Eagles finished in a three way tie for second, qualifying for its first post season appearance in the play-offs in many years. The tie was broken based upon our last 5 dominant wins in a row, larger gap in points scored vs. points allowed and best record against the top 4 teams. This allowed the Eagles to be seeded as the second place team representing the West Foothill Conference in the post season. Our play-off appearance this last weekend was fantastic. In the first round on Saturday we won a great game against OLMM 39-14, our high score for the year. Sunday we lost a tough game against St. Rita 28-15. We battled competitively all the way until the end.

Highlighting the season were epic battles against some our toughest rivals, amazing plays made on offence, defense and special teams. In 10 games, not one point was scored against us during a kick-off or punts return. Solid defense was the key to the Eagles ultimate success, whether it was goal-line stands, interceptions, pass/run defense or sacks. Our offense was great utilizing outside runs, short and long passes by our 6 rotating quarterbacks. Incarnation can feel proud of the young men who displayed determination and sportsmanship throughout the season. Players had lots of fun learning new plays and new skills while playing multiple positions. Every player improved from practice to practice and from game to game.

Friday is the Solemnity of All Saints, or All Saints Day, and we celebrate the lives of all the saints who now live in Christ. The third grade class has been researching the lives of saints and concluded the project with a special presentation for Mass. Please see amendment below to Parent-Student Handbook
If a parent wishes to celebrate his/her child’s birthday at school, celebrations must take place during recess or lunch and must be approved by the child’s teacher ahead of time. Celebrations must be simple (one small treat per child—no pizza lunches, etc.). We request that any treats brought to the school be healthy or non-edible (pencils, fruits, etc.). For home parties, unless all students in the class are included, party invitations may not be passed out at school. This policy eliminates the hurt feelings that result from being excluded. Party invitations can be mailed to the home address or emailed provided that the information is listed in the school directory. WEEKLY BULLETIN
August 27, 2013

Ever-living God,
Bless us with your tender mercy,
Allow your dawn to break upon us,
give us your Light, and guide our feet
in your way of peace, so that all we do this year
will be according to your holy will.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

A Message from the Principal
On behalf of the faculty and staff at Incarnation School, welcome to the 2013-2014 academic year! We look forward to working with you and hope that our students and their parents share our enthusiasm as we begin the exciting school year ahead.

The 2013-2014 Parent/Student Handbook is now available online only at www.incaschool.org. This handbook will provide you with information to assist you in familiarizing yourself with Archdiocesan and school policies. All students and their parents should be familiar with the contents of the handbook. The end of the handbook has several forms for you to review and return to school. As part of your enrollment agreement/contract, we require all families to sign and return the Policies Agreement Form no later than Monday, September 9, 2013.

Incarnation School and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are committed to providing a safe environment for our children. With that in mind, we require all of our volunteers to receive VIRTUS training. All parish and school volunteers, teachers, clergy, religious, staff, and paid personnel who work in any capacity with or around children must participate in the VIRTUS program. To find a VIRTUS session in your area, visit www.virtus.org. VIRTUS training is valid for 4 years. Recertification courses are available if your certificate has expired. In addition to attending a live VIRTUS session, all volunteers are required to sign the Guidelines for Interacting with Youth and Minors form located in the back of the Parent/Student Handbook. Additional copies can be obtained from the school office.

Parents working in any supervisory position (yard duty, field trip chaperones, drivers, etc.) must receive fingerprinting clearance prior to assuming this type of role. Please visit the school office for more information about LiveScan fingerprinting.

Lastly, if you want to come to the office or book keeper, you may come through the front door.  Students walking home need to have their forms filled out and sign out in the office before you leave. Everyone else needs to use the carpool to pick up their children, if you are not walking home.

We thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep our students safe, and we look forward to your active participation in your child(ren)’s education!

God Bless,

Mrs. Diana Girskis
Principal

Book Fair News
The Fall Scholastic Book Fair is around the corner and we are looking for volunteers to help make it a great success!  The book fair will be open on Saturday, Sept. 7th at the Back to School Hop from 2:00-5:00 pm.  It will also be open Monday, Sept. 9th through Thursday, Sept. 12th.   Thank you to all who have already expressed an interest to help, by signing the sheet on the first day of school.  Included in your packet today is a new sign up sheet with dates and times when we need parent participation hours.  Please remember that all volunteers working on campus need to be Virtus trained.  Please indicate on your volunteer sheet if you have also been fingerprinted.  Returned volunteer sheets will be dated.  Assignments will be made according to the first volunteer sheets returned.  Mrs. Hihn will contact you by email to verify all times.

Carpool
Effective immediately, during morning carpool there will be NO PARKING IN THE SCHOOL YARD.  After dropping your children off, if you have business to take care of in the office or need to buy scrip, please park in the church parking lot and walk around to the school office. As principal, I am committed to providing the highest degree of safety to our students. The practice of parking your vehicles in the yard and then walking our students across the stop and go traffic unprotected increases the risk of injury to all involved, therefore there will be no parking in the school yard.  I thank you for your cooperation.

Join us on Saturday, September 7, to kick off the new school year at our Annual Back-to-School Hop for "Inca's All-Stars", featuring delicious food, fun games for the kids, good music, and an enjoyable afternoon for new and returning Inca families.  See the flyer in today's Home Messenger envelope for more details.
