Family Messenger January 25, 2012

God of light,
As we study your teachings, help us to
pay attention to what we hear.
Help us to see the meaning your words
have for our lives. May the light of your word
shine in your hearts.
Amen.

A Message from the Principal

This Sunday, Catholic Schools across the nation kick-off Catholic Schools Week. We begin this celebration with Mass on Sunday at 9:00 a.m., followed by our Open House from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Open House is a time that new families will also be exploring our school. This is an opportunity for family and friends to visit the classrooms and art exhibit. Parents and students will be leading prospective families on tours around the campus. If you know of any families in search of a school, encourage them to attend our Open House and have them see if a Catholic education at Incarnation is the choice for them!

Blessings,

Ms. Olivia Carrillo
Principal

Catholic Schools Week
The theme of this year’s Catholic Schools Week is Faith. Academics. Service. The theme focuses on three priorities that Catholic schools establish that make them stand out from other educational institutions. Children are taught faith – not just the basics of Christianity, but how to have a relationship with God. Academics, which in Catholic schools are held to very high standards, help each child reach his or her potential. Service, the giving of one’s time and effort to help others, is taught both as an expression of faith and good citizenship.

Activities for the week are as follows:

• Monday, January 30 – School Families Day: Families of K-8 students will create a “faith” banner for mass later in the week
• Tuesday, January 31 – Commitment Tuesday: Each class will commit to a service project
• Wednesday, February 1 – Wacky Wednesday: Show your school spirit!
• Thursday, February 2 – Grandparents/Special Visitors Day and Mission Awareness presentation
• Friday, February 3 – Faculty/Student Volleyball Game
